Whether working as an individual alone or as part of a team/work group and working in liaison with other team members, a hazard analysis may be required under a safety case by organisation procedures or simply as being good practice. This might be done as an independent activity in order to identify hazards and the appropriate hazard controls, or it might be done as part of a broader process, such as identifying and applying for the permits required for a job.

Course Overview

Occupational health and safety (OHS) relate to health, safety, and welfare issues in the workplace and includes laws, standards, and programs that are aimed at making the workplace better for workers, along with co-workers and customers. Completing this course will improve a company’s occupational health and safety standards and ensure good business, a better brand image, and higher employee morale.

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Participants must have the physical capacity to use the appropriate equipment and reading and writing skills.

Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:

Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace on two occasions, including:

  • Conduct a risk assessment
  • Preparing the workplace
  • Selecting an appropriate ladder and apply safe work practices
  • Demonstrate safe work methods for an emergency

Theory assessment – A written exam consisting of multiple choice and short answer questions to be completed at the end of the training session. Students are able to refer to their Learners resource material.

Documentation – The student must compete all documentation according to the required standard:

  • Risk Assessment
  • Incident Report Form
