Whether working as an individual alone or as part of a team/work group and working in liaison with other team members, a hazard analysis may be required under a safety case by organisation procedures or simply as being good practice. This might be done as an independent activity in order to identify hazards and the appropriate hazard controls, or it might be done as part of a broader process, such as identifying and applying for the permits required for a job.
This unit covers safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord assemblies. It will provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to work safely using a portable apparatus tester, identify safe and unsafe cords and apparatus, identify faults, applying tagging, arranging for repair of faulty equipment and complete testing documentation.

This course has a prerequisite of UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace.
Participants must have the physical capacity to use appropriate equipment, have oral and written communication skills to follow instructions and complete report documentation, literacy and numeracy skills to read and interpret policy, procedural and legislative documents.
